Microbe-Lift Autumn/Winter Prep – 1 Quart
Cold-weather bacteria that keep breaking down leaves and sludge after your regular pond bacteria go quiet.
Most pond bacteria slow down once the water cools. Autumn/Winter Prep is a two-part treatment made for the cold months: a liquid blend of cold-weather bacteria, plus water-soluble packets of enzymes that break down leaves and bottom sludge. According to Microbe-Lift, it keeps working in water below 40°F. Less decaying debris over winter means fewer gases under the ice and a cleaner start in spring.
Best for
- Ponds that collect leaves in fall
- Using alongside an aerator or de-icer through winter
What's in the box
- 1 quart (32 oz) of liquid cold-weather bacteria
- Water-soluble enzyme packets
How much to use
| Pond size | First dose | Weekly for the next 3 weeks | Monthly after that |
|---|---|---|---|
| 80 to 200 gallons | 4 oz | 2 oz | 2 oz |
| 201 to 500 gallons | 6 oz | 3 oz | 3 oz |
| 501 to 1,000 gallons | 8 oz | 4 oz | 4 oz |
| 1,001 to 2,500 gallons | 12 oz | 6 oz | 6 oz |
For ponds up to 2,500 gallons, add one enzyme packet a month. One quart lasts a 1,000 gallon pond about four months.
Fall tip: Start in early fall, before the first freeze, so the bacteria have time to settle in. Always follow the directions on the label.
